The Power of Renewable Energy

I am an Electrical Engineer Undergraduate from Anna University with Post Graduation in Energy Engineering from NIT Trichy. The power of energy auditing will reduce the fossil fuel source that nullifies the new addition of power capacity as well as to avoid climate change. In the present scenario, the focus of renewable energy is also in support of augmenting power capacity and providing clean natural environment.

Now globally, every country is committed to reducing the temperature by minimizing carbon foot print. So we are in need of adopting advanced technologies such as solar energy, green buildings and energy optimization, etc.

Solar Energy

The government of India has set a target of 175 GW renewable energy capacity by 2022. Current Installed capacity of 22GW only. The gap is to be filled by the man power of over 3 lakhs of workers as per the International Labour Organization (ILO) survey says.  This gap can be achieved by skilled courses like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY),  Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) by Skill India, etc.

Green Building

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) was formed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2001.  IGBC targets 10 billion sq. ft. of green building footprint by 2022  and currently achieves only 0.4 billion sq. ft by 2019. This gap can be achieved through skilled courses like the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC AP) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), etc .

Energy Audit

The Government of India set up the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on 1st March 2002 under the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. As per Unlocking National Energy Efficiency Potential (UNNATEE) report stated the energy saving potential is 87 Mtoe for the investment of 8.4 Lakh Crores by 2031 and reduction of carbon emission 858 MtCO2e in 2030 by implementing energy efficiency projects. This can be achieved through skilled courses by BEE certified Energy Manager or certified Energy Auditor .  

EV Vehicle & Charging Station

Ministry of Power has designated Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) as the Central Nodal Agency (CNA) for the National-level rollout of charging infrastructure in the country. The transport sector accounts for 18% of total energy consumption in India. This translates to an estimated 94 million tonnes of oil equivalent (MTOE) energy. If India were to follow the current trends of energy consumption, it would require an estimated 200 MTOE of energy supply annually, by the year 2030 to meet the demand of this sector. By 2030, the government aims to make India a 100-per cent electric-vehicle nation for this MSME has conducting the course of EV Charging station and Hybrid Electric Vehicle.


Karthik Karuppu

Karthik Karuppu is a BEE Certified Energy Auditor, CII IGBC AP, SCGJ Solar Assessor, MSME EV Charging Infrastructure and Technology and NSC Electrical Safety. He is an Electrical Engineer Undergraduate from Anna University with Post Graduation in Energy Engineering at NIT Trichy. He has done energy audits / PG tests in Thermal and Gas Power Plants at various government/private projects like NTPC Faraka, Tata Power corporation Ltd, WBPDCL, DVC, MPPKVCL, HPGCL, HPMC, TNVL, CESC, UPSDA, HZL, OPG, Nagar Nikam Faridabad, and Saudi Aramco. He has been involved in BEE/EESL projects like AgDSM, MuDSM and PAT Scheme. His skill at report making was always recommended for the guaranteed saving of energy, oil, coal and water, along with Return on Investment (ROI). He has immense knowledge and experience in commercial, industrial and residential sectors which always showed the guaranteed savings of assured outcome.


He has conducted various solar assessments at various engineering colleges across India, and also executed MW solar EPC projects in utility sectors. 

As a Guest Speaker handled various workshops, seminars and webinars for Academicians, Students, Research Scholars, and Working Professionals in energy technologies such as EV charging, solar energy, green building, energy conservation and electrical safety.
